Already over 250 applications in for energy-efficient homes
An increasing number of Zwolle residents have been squeezed by high energy prices since last year. That is why the municipality of Zwolle received a one-time subsidy from the state to help low-income residents. This is how Warm Home Zwolle came into being: a collaboration of local organizations, which makes homes more sustainable for people who cannot afford it themselves. This is bearing fruit. Over 250 households have already signed up. And you can still do so via the Warm Home registration page.
Help from Warm Home is free
Eligible households receive free advice from an energy coach, free insulation materials and a handyman to do the job for free. For tenants, these are small measures, such as LED lighting or sealing gaps. For homeowners, these are also sometimes big measures. For example, facade insulation, floor insulation or new glazing. In the case of major measures, the contractor will come by for free implementation.
Satisfied homeowner
One of those homeowners is Mr. Marsman. In his house, the single glass on the upper floor was replaced with new double-glazing. “I am very happy that the glazing has been replaced. And also curious to see what it will save me,” he indicated. One thing is certain: much less heat will be lost.
Help that really helps people
Where the biggest gains can be made in the home, the energy coach reviews with the executor. Michiel van Willigen, alderman for opportunity equality at the municipality of Zwolle: “Many people already apply all kinds of conservation tips but still have very high energy bills. They would like to insulate their house, but simply don’t have the money to do so. Warm Home Zwolle is there precisely for these people.”
According to Alderman Energy Transition Arjan Spaans, Warm Home Zwolle’s help has an effect on several levels: “A better insulated house not only ensures a warm house in winter, but also a cool house in summer. That makes for comfortable living, is good for the environment and better for the wallet.”
Clout through cooperation
Through cooperation between the municipality, the Voor Elkaar Zwolle Foundation, Blauwvinger Energie, various neighborhood initiatives, housing corporations and contractor Van Wijnen, forces are combined to help people as quickly and well as possible.
